The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe By Katie
Have you ever had an animal talk to you before? Well, in the book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, four children, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy find and travel to an imaginary place called Narnia. They leave their home country of London because of air raids were bombing there. So they went to an old professor's house and lived there for a while. The day they came they decided to go and explore the wood and field the next day, but wouldn't you know it began to rain very hard that you couldn't even see the wood or field. They decided to explore the huge house. They went room to room. Until one room with a humongous wardrobe and a dead dragonfly on the window - sill, Lucy thinks to herself that maybe something great is in the wardrobe. She goes in and finds the country Narnia. I thought this book was great and I think you would too. Read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.

The Narnia Trivia Book: Inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia (Narnia)
Published in Paperback by Harpercollins Juvenile Books (May, 1999)
Authors: Pauline Baynes and C. S. Chronicles of Narnia Lewis
Average review score:

A Little Easy, but incrediably mind racking
I found that this trivia book was enjoyable. It challenges you to try to remember the smaller details in the chronicles.( yes you must think). It is arranged by book, so if you haven't read them all yet, you can still stimulate your brain with it. The only downside is that it wasn't much of a challenge if you can remember mostly the little details from the chronicles. But then again, I've read them at least five times... IT's an excellent trivia book though, and a great one to add to your Narnian collection.

New King
Published in Paperback by Viking Penguin Inc (February, 1999)
Author: Earl B. Lewis
Average review score:

This Book Should Be Labeled A Classic
Author Rappaport and Illustrator Lewis have done a marvelous job in their treatment of an issue that children are curious of--death. It is not depressing, but it is more of a learning experience for children readers that is easily understood as they're able to empathize with a troubled little boy whose father has died.

The illustrations are keen and exhibit people dressed in exotic nineteenth-century Madagascar clothing.

I read the story to my four and six-year-olds, and they, as I, loved it!

No Place for Sin

I hope this series never ends
Cutler, Colorado is a beautiful small town, a virtual oasis of serenity in a violent world. Senior citizen and part-time sleuth Fred Vickery has lived his entire life in the tranquil town and always stands by to protect it, his family, and his friends from nefarious activities that periodically encroach. When home boy David Newman returns to the town after a long absence, he plans to campaign to bring legalized gambling to Cutler. Though this would give the local economy a needed boost, Fred opposes the idea and actively plans to stop it from occurring. While Fred will use legal means, a more militant individual, Lenore Irvine, the town's self proclaimed arbiter of morality, intends to be much more active in stopping the plan.

Before Lenore can start her campaign, she is found dead inside her car which has been deliberately pushed off the road. Early evidence points towards Fred's son-in-law as the prime murder suspect since he was observed threatening the deceased just before she was killed and other evidence proves that his car pushed her car off the road. Fred thinks his son-in-law is guilty, but his own daughter does not believe this for a moment. She convinces Fred that he is not being objective because he does not like her spouse. To help his daughter, Fred investigates the murder, placing himself in mortal danger.

The hero of NO PLACE FOR SIN is a very active, intelligent, and likable septuagenarian. Sherry Lewis demonstrates that our senior citizens make vital contributions to the well being of society and should be revered for their wisdom. The recurring characters imbue the audience with a feeling of meeting dear friends, while the absorbing mystery is well crafted. Anyone who has read the Fred Vickery novels will taste victory and become a lifetime fan.

No-Hitters : The 223 Games, 1893-1999
Published in Paperback by McFarland & Company (April, 2000)
Authors: Rich Westcott, Allen Lewis, and Jim Bunning
Average review score:

Highly recommended for baseball fans & sports history buffs.
No-Hitters: The 225 Games, 1893-1999 discusses each no-hitter baseball game, including a brief profile and career record of each pitcher. Each game is recapped, with details on what happened to that batter. A box score for each game is also featured, as is a photo of almost every no-hit pitcher. No-Hitters is enhanced for the baseball enthusiast with appendices that list no-hitters in which more than one pitcher participated; complete game no-hitters of less than nine innings; and no-hitters pitched before 1893 (when the mound was only 50 feet from home plate). An informative foreword by Jim Bunning (who pitched two no-hitters and one of the only eleven perfect games in baseball history) is a true informational treasure for the baseball fan. No-Hitters is a highly recommended addition to personal, school, sports bar, and community library baseball reference book collections.

Not a Tame God: Christ in the Writings of C.S. Lewis
Published in Paperback by Concordia Publishing House (June, 2002)
Author: Steven P. Mueller
Average review score:

A thoughtful, scholarly, and in-depth analysis
Not A Tame God: Christ In The Writings Of C.S. Lewis by Steven P. Mueller (Associate Professor of Theology, Concordia University, Irvine, California) is an informed and informative study of the literature of popular twentieth-century writer and devout Christian C. S. Lewis, who has presented the image of an "untamable" God in his writings which remain faithful to the essence of Jesus Christ. Central in the analysis is Lewis' Christ-like figure of Aslan, the wild and compassionate lion protector of the land of Narnia. A thoughtful, scholarly, and in-depth analysis, Not A Tame God is highly recommended contribution to Christian Theology Studies in general, and the reading lists for students of C.S. Lewis' writings in particular.
